China’s development path, 1949–2022

China’s path is conceived as a transition from an economically underdeveloped and semi-colonised country of the Global South into modern socialist in multipolar world where successive steps (modes regulation) were shaped by external environment (uneven combined development) succession contradictions crises encountered along way. Three phases are examined: turbulent phase construction context capital shortage US embargoes; reform opening up era neoliberal globalisation, whose early roots lay 1970s’ rapprochement with US; New Era dating 2017. In each phase, saw waves reform, involving joint transformations economic structures institutions, while was anticipated years that preceded it, so started 1970s US, aspects concern innovation, green development, common prosperity equitable global order to emerge earlier.
